Cowboys Win 2-1 Over Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team came from behind to win 2-1 over Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas on Sunday afternoon.

The Hendrix Warriors' Ricky Barrientos scored in the 13th minute to take a 1-0 lead that would last until the Cowboys first score by Luke Braswell in the 73rd minute to tie the game at 1-1. Kiko Redondo scored the go-ahead goal to put the Cowboys up 2-1 in the 81st minute to seal the win.

The Cowboys dominated the game with 26 shots and 14 on goal while the Warriors had five shots and three on frame. The Cowboys also led with 11 corner kicks to the Warriors' one.

Rafa Mejorado got the start in the net and got the win for the Cowboys with two saves. Hendrix played two keepers, Josh Neuman with two saves in 17 minutes of play and Aaron Sahlmann with 10 saves in 72 minutes and the loss.

The Cowboys are now 2-0 on the young season and Hendrix falls to 0-2. HSU men's soccer will play next against JWU at a neutral site game hosted at UT-Dallas next Saturday, September 7th at 5 p.m.
