ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team swept a pair of matches in the American Southwest Conference Crossover on Friday, beating Belhaven 25-21, 25-15, 25-23 and defeating Louisiana College 25-17, 25-14, 25-10.

Both teams came out swinging in the first set and HSU took an 18-14 lead, but the Blazers responded with five straight points to take the lead 19-18. HSU responded by winning seven of the final nine points of the game to take a 1-0 lead.
In the second game, the Cowgirls took the lead on three straight kills by Triniti Anderson and a service ace by Chloe Calhoun-Rivera. It gave the Cowgirls a 9-4 lead and they never were threatened the rest of the game.
In the deciding third game, HSU used a 9-2 run to take a 24-19 lead before Belhaven scored five straight before ending the match with a serve into the net.

Against Louisiana College, the Cowgirls had big runs to take early control of each set and did not let up.
Anderson again led the attack with 12 kills and Lewis added eight. Kailey Currington had six kills on 12 swings.
Pierce had a double-double with 29 assists and 13 digs for HSU. Karlie Knapek added four service aces.
The Cowgirls are now 9-8 overall and 6-4 in American Southwest Conference action. HSU will play East Texas Baptist at 10 a.m. on Saturday at McMurry in the final game of the tournament.
