RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team evened its record on the season with a pair of wins on Friday at the UT Dallas Invitational in Richardson.
Hardin-Simmons 3, Pomona-Pitzer 0
The Cowgirls swept Pomona-Pitzer, 25-18, 25-21, 26-24 in the first match of the day. The Cowgirls came out swinging and hit .212 for the match.
Senior setter Ashley Pierce had 34 assists as she efficiently ran the Cowgirl offense. She also passed Amanda Curry in career assists to move into second place on the career charts. She is now just 486 away from the school record of Molli Owen.
Mary Johnson led the defense with 14 digs and she also added four of the Cowgirls' nine service aces.
Hardin-Simmons 3, Aurora 1
The Cowgirls used a balanced offensive attack and defeated Aurora 26-24, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23.
Langerman and Anderson had 14 and 13 kills respectively for the Cowgirls and Karlie Knapek added a career-best 10 kills.
Johnson tied her career high with 34 digs. Chloe Calhoun-Rivera added 16 digs. Pierce had a double-double with 42 assists and 10 digs.
The Cowgirls are now 3-3 on the year and will close out the tournament on Saturday at 12:30 by taking on Pacific Lutheran.
