MARSHALL, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team fell in two games against the East Texas Baptist Tigers by final scores of 2-1 and 5-4 on Friday.

Kate Tovar had a pair of hits and an RBI for the Cowgirls and Daniella Solis led the Tigers with two hits.

Game two had a few more fireworks with the Tigers out hitting the Cowgirls with nine hits to eight. Mariah Delgado had a sac fly to put the Tigers up, but junior transfer Mason McCord pulled the Cowgirls back even with her first homerun in the fifth inning.

ETBU added a couple to make it 3-1 Tigers until Kenzee Hessert and Haven Williams drove home two Cowgirl runs in the sixth to bring it to 3-3.

The Tigers got two more in the sixth, including a Kaitlin Hunter moonshot homerun, to make it 5-3. Karis Hessert answered with her third homer in the last two days, but the Cowgirls couldn't get another in and fell 5-4.

McCord had a three-hit game with a double and the homer to lead the Cowgirls and Delgado led the Tigers with three RBIs.

Kaylen Washington started for the Cowgirls and threw four and a third innings with six hits and three runs allowed. Williams came in to finish and only allowed three hits in the loss.

Preslye Cox started for the Tigers and went five and two-thirds innings with seven hits and three runs allowed. Solis got the win and Lara came in for the save.
