Cowgirls Clinch ASC No. 1 Seed against UMHB

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team won 1-0 over the Mary-Hardin Baylor Cru on Monday to capture the American Southwest Conference regular season title with an undefeated 10-0 record in conference so far.

The game was a stalemate and both sides had decent possession throughout. Madelyn Dowell got the Cowgirls on the board with an olympico goal straight off a corner in the 42nd minute.

Dowell's second score from a corner kick of the season led the Cowgirls to the 1-0 win and clinching the top spot in the conference once again. The Cowgirls will finish the regular season on Friday and the ASC Tournament will begin Tuesday, Nov. 5.

The Cowgirls had 10 shots with five on goal in the game and the Cru had 12 shots and two on frame. The Cowgirls had eight corners to the Cru's four. 

Kayla Gable started for the Cowgirls in goal and had two saves in the win. Emmalee McMaude played keeper for the Cru and had four saves on the night.

The Cowgirls are now 13-2-1 on the season and a perfect 10-0 in conference play. The Cru stand at 10-6-1 and 8-2 in the ASC. The Cowgirls will wrap up the regular season with a game against McMurry on Friday at 5 p.m. at the HSU Soccer Complex.
