ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team fell 3-1 in a game against Trinity on Saturday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Tigers scored first with a Kaity Ward goal in the 33rd minute. They would add to their lead in the second half with two more goals, both by Kristen Canepa.
The Cowgirls scored their goal off a penalty kick by Madelyn Dowell in the 83rd minute, making it a 3-1 finish in favor of Trinity.
The Cowgirls had eight shots and three on target to the Tiger's 10 total shots and seven on frame. The Cowgirls led with five corners to Trinity's two. The fouls were even with 11 per team on the match.
Haley Foley started in the net for the Cowgirls and had four saves in 70 minutes of play. Kayla Gable also saw action in goal for HSU. Trinity keeper Paige Wallace got the win with two saves in 90 minutes of play.
The Cowgirls move to 0-2-1 on the young season and the Tigers are now 3-0. HSU Soccer returns to the pitch this coming Wednesday with a double header against Texas College with the Cowgirls starting at 6 p.m.
