ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team pushed its home-court winning streak to 20 games with a 97-62 win over Louisiana College on Thursday night at the Mabee Complex.
HSU came out on fire and went on an 11-2 run to start the game. Taylor Gaffney hit two 3-pointers and Parris Parmer had one in the opening kick. LC clawed right back into the game and eventually took a 17-15 lead with 3:11 to play in the quarter. HSU outscored the Wildcats 7-0 to close out the period and never trailed the rest of the way.
The Cowgirls pushed the run out 18-0 and led 33-17 with 6:40 to play in the half. HSU led 47-34 at halftime. HSU continued to build on the lead throughout the second half.
HSU hit 14 3-pointers on the night and held the Wildcats to 33 percent shooting. HSU also put its depth to work outscoring LC 45-9 off the bench.
Taylor Gaffney led five HSU players in double figures with 22 points. Kaitlyn Ellis had 15 points, Parris Parmer and Brittany Schnabel added 11 points each and Hallie Edmondson scored 10 points for HSU.
Alex Harrison led the Wildcats with 18 points and ZyUnn Cormier added 16 points for the Wildcats.
The Cowgirls are now 16-4 overall and 10-1 in ASC action. Louisiana College fell to 3-16 overall and 1-10 in conference play. HSU will host Belhaven for senior day on Saturday at 1 p.m. for its lone senior Taylor Gaffney.
