Cowgirls Hit School Record 17 3-Pointers In Win Over Sul Ross State

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons women's basketball team sizzled from behind the arc, and set the school record with 17 3-pointers in an 82-61 American Southwest Conference win over Sul Ross State on Thursday night at the Mabee Complex.

The Cowgirls broke the previous record of 15 which was set in the NCAA Tournament against Randolph-Macon in 2003. It was also the 16th straight win at home for HSU.

HSU went 6-for-11 from 3-point range in the first quarter and led 29-9 after one period. The game was never in doubt after the early run by the Cowgirls.

The Cowgirls had 10 3-pointers at halftime and hit six more in the third quarter to break the record. Logan Haller's 3-pointer to beat the third-quarter buzzer was the record breaker. HSU led 71-39 after three quarters.

HSU had a balanced attack with Karlea Ritchie leading the way with 17 points. Taylor Gaffney added 11 and Parris Parmer scored 10.

The Lobos, who played just seven players, were led by Ashley Nunez who scored 20 points and Maria Maldonado added 14.
