Cowboys Falter Late To Concordia

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team fell to Concordia 81-68 in an important American Southwest Conference game at the Mabee Complex.

The Cowboys took an early lead in the game at 12-4 and led throughout most of the first half taking a 35-31 lead into halftime.

Trey Wooldridge's layup gave the Cowboys a 41-33 lead with 18:03 to play in the game. The game was tied as late as the 6:06 mark at 66, but Concordia closed the game on a 15-2 run.

Concordia turned up the pressure and the Cowboys had four consecutive turnovers on the press that were turned into points by the Tornados as part of an 8-0 run.

Luis Gonzalez led the Tornados with 26 points on the night and Trevon Hester had 12 points.

Steven Quinn led the Cowboys with 13 points and added 10 rebounds. Trey Wooldridge had 12 points and Anthony Hunter added 11.

The Cowboys are now 6-12 on the year and 2-7 in American Southwest Conference play. Concordia improved to 9-9 and 4-4 in ASC action. HSU will host Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday at 3 p.m.
