AUSTIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team suffered a crucial 79-61 loss to Concordia in American Southwest Conference action on Saturday at the Concordia Fieldhouse.
Concordia took advantage of a cold-shooting game for the Cowboys. They jumped to a 41-24 halftime lead after the Cowboys shot 9-for-26 and turned the ball over 13 times in the first half.
The Tornados came out in the second half and scored the first 10 points to push the lead to 51-24.
HSU picked up the scoring pace late but Concordia shot 51.7 percent in the game and beat the Cowboys 46-28 in the paint.
Anthony Hunter led the Cowboys with 11 points. Philip Meikle had 19 points and Antoine Henderson added 18 for Concordia.
The Cowboys are now 5-11 overall and 1-6 in conference play. Concordia is now 7-9 overall and 2-5 in ASC play. The Tornados have a one-game lead on the Cowboys for the final spot in the postseason.
HSU will play at McMurry on Thursday in ASC play.
